- Making Waves v1.8
-
- Prog Type : wav file sequencer
-
- Making Waves is a sample sequencer that allows you to use standard wavs
- to create loops. (Similar to trackers.) You can utilize up to 64 sample
- channels at 44.1 output, with note effects like velocity, pan, attack,
- filter, reverse, and delay. Also includes midi synch, new song format
- that includes all samples used, solo feature, realtime and step record,
- Max level detect, Triplets, long filenames, and more. (retail $79)
-
- Opinion : If you liked the old mod trackers like 'Impulse Tracker' i
- think you'll like this. The features like auto-pitch shifting to match
- a breakbeat to BPM is great. (although its not as flexible as Acid's
- time compression) The save file format that contains the song & samples
- makes online transfers easy. See below for more reviews. :)
-
- Requirements : 486/66, win95, 16bit soundcard, a cd rom drive
-
- How to Use :
- 1) Run 'setupmkw.exe'
- 2) If you get a message asking for the cd, place any cd in your cdrom.
-
-
- Tip: To save your music to a WAV first highlight the bars you want to save.
- (You can do this by moving the pointer just below the bar numbers in
- the main track window, and dragging the mouse with the left button pressed
- down.) Now go the the edit menu and select "copy Bars to sample file" option.
- You can also turn off tracks you dont want to hear before exporting to wav.

- Review by Zenta :
-
- Even though on the surface Making Waves looks like a poor relation to Acid,
- it actually has a few facilities that still make it worthwhile using. As a
- drum loop creator it is pretty useful and with the built in ability to easily
- create triplets and the ability of being able to seqence up not only samples
- but midi notes and triggers, sets it asidefrom BBox, Drumstation and the like.
- Its a shame it has no effects built in nor can it utilise DX plugins but maybe
- that will come in a later update. Wave output could not be faulted and was
- clear and accurate. All in all, a program that shows a lot of potential and
- one that has a few tricks up its sleeve to keep it apart from the competition.
